IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorials LaTex Workshop on 14th Oct 2011

TSDC and MCA department organized a LaTex Workshop for Acropolis faculty members of different departments ( MCA, MBA, CS, IT, EC, ME, CE, Pharmacy, Applied Sciences)  on 14th Oct 2011 in association with Spoken Tutorial project, IIT Bombay, funded by National Mission on Education through ICT, MHRD, Govt. of India.
The Objective of LaTeX Workshop was to give our faculty members knowledge about how to write research papers, journal papers and Ph.D. thesis in LaTex.  In which they learned about Installation of LaTeX, Letter Writing (Compiling, Letter Writing), Report Writing,Mathematical Equations (Compiling, Mathematical Typesetting,  Equations, Update), Tables andFigures (Compiling, Tables and Figures, Update),Beamer (Compiling, Matematical Typesetting,  Equations, Tables and Figures, Update, Beamer), References (Compiling, Report Writing, Bibliography,  Inside story of Bibliography, Update).
LaTeX can be used to produce outstanding documents. It’s told in software world that if you are going to create many documents in the rest of your life, it is time to started using Latex. LaTeX  is a typesetting software primarily used for technical journals, books and research works. LaTeX software is used to create short or long mathematical articles, consisting of paragraphs of text interspersed with mathematical equations and expressions. The equations and expressions may contain such things as definite integrals, indefinite integrals, square roots, fractions, summations, etc.
 If we have to do lot of mathematics, there is no substitute for latex at all. Latex documents created in one operating system, say Windows, can be reused, without any changes, in other systems, such as Linux and Mac – and conversely, Latex is free and also open source. Above all, it has excellent user communities to help us with doubts, for example, visit tug India. The spoken tutorials on latex are available at moudgalya.org also.
After clearing the online test conducted by IIT Bombay, participants received the certification for completion in LaTeX workshop. Overall 50 faculty members participted
